Hi, I was wondering if you have or would ever consider trying to bring System Shock 1 to the XL engine. There have been many attempts at porting it other game engines but none have ever been finished. It seems like a perfect candidate for you to work your magic on :)

He is considering it, along with some other games, but it won't be decided until after all four XL games are done.

Yeah, lucius is THE GREAT MAN, but still he's not almighty. Let him finish already started games.

I recently had a go at this the other day and was amazed at what System Shock pulled off - its essentially Bioshock, Fallout 3 and Half-Life fused in together on MS-DOS of all things.

I agree with the above statements, but this should definitely be considered once the current projects are finished. I can see the game hitting a much wider audience with a revamped control scheme that works more along the lines of typical FPS games.

System Shock is indeed pretty high on "the list." However there are no timetables or definitive plans at this time, until the current games are fully playable and complete-able.

But during the merger process, I specifically had in mind that support for an unknown number of additional games would most likely be added to the XL Engine.

Ditto! I'd love so see how this game would look with the delicious mods that we've seen from the XL Engine so far. Which reminds me for my purpose in registering...

Lucius good sir. I must thank you for making all this happen.

I wasn't really big on DOS games since they're too dated for my tastes. I don't consider myself a "graphics whore" but maybe it's just that I didn't grow up with them (was mainly focused on snes games). So I am only just now trying them out and thankfully projects like yours will ease the pain of trying to get them to work properly while at the same time making them look nicer.
I know this isn't the proper topic to say this in but again, thank you very much for your hard effort. :)

I never did play through System Shock. It was easy enough to run in DOSbox, but the controls are just utterly awful. I played a lot of DOS games in the 90s, but this was one of those I just found clunky and frustrating.

System Shock 2 is an excellent game, however; keeping that in mind makes me want to play the first one again.

If System Shock ever gets added, then maybe Ultima Underworld too? Ultima Underworld II is one of the best CRPGs ever written; on par with Daggerfall or Morrowind. (They're slightly different categories; the ES series is world-based while the Ultima series is story-based.)

The engines are very similar (for obvious reasons) so this would be a natural step.
