Better versions are in the works however.

Sweet, I'll get that once the bugs have been hammered out but I don't like that font in the pictures.

I found the UI way less annoying after I started using "favorites" and then pressing "q" to set spells/weapons. I barely use the inventory anymore :P

So far I've done 2 randomly generated quests in Skyrim (minus all the scripted ones)

Both of them were exactly like some of daggerfall's quests -

1. Go to this place, kill this giant who is terrorizing people, get reward.

2. Go to this dungeon, and rescue this person, and bring him back home.

Seriously, they felt like someone took those two quests from daggerfall and put them in a game with better graphics.

Not saying that it's not cool though, it definitely adds replayability if they have the variation on the randomly generated side quests that daggerfall had.

I feel like maybe they were trying to do the same things daggerfall tried on a smaller scale with skyrim.

Seriously - unlimited random quests,
Faction battles where you pick who's side your aligned with, there's even some nods like the quest with the alik'r warriors and stuff.

Yeah, it feels like there are a lot of nods in Daggerfall's direction in the game, especially with the Thieves' guild's missions. I really like unlimited quests from the factions. They were a big part of what I liked about Daggerfall, and what I missed from both Morrowind and Oblivion, even if they are by nature repetitive in nature.

Daggerfall may have had a decent UI for 1996, but really it's terrible to use. The scrollbars are frustrating, the inventory shows only four things at a time, you have to clicked that info button, sometimes it displays your wagon contents in place of your inventory after selling to a merchant (this is a feature in dungeons), and the yellow text makes us colourblind types want to rip out our eyes while reading notes and books.

Skyrim's UI has a similarly clumsy inventory design, but thankfully forgoes an info button. The mouse movement is buggy, there is no way to easily compare items, and the worst part is it doesn't display the correct keys when they are rebound.

Still, all of this doesn't keep me from enjoying either game. They're both addictive. :D

Even though i agree with you about both UIs, I think daggerfall's UI wins slightly because you can see your equipment on your character. having to tab out of the inventory to see your character really annoys me in skyrim for some reason. That, and I'd rather see a picture of an item then a word and have to mouse over to see what it looks like. If DF had increased inventory space, and the info would be shown in a corner when you mouse over, it would be much better. Other than that, Skyrim does have a better UI, even if it does suck.

Morrowind UI FTW.

Odd, my mod seems to have disappeared.
I guess SkyrimNexus doesn't like Daggerfall music, since they removed it. :P

Bethesda has been touchy in the past about transferring resources from one game to another; and mod-hosting sites have largely decided to comply with their wishes and copyright law on this subject. Your mod was probably removed because of that.

I see. However, it wasn't the original Daggerfall music. It was the music recreated by Dan Goodale (whom gave me permission to use it as a mod, so long as he is credited) It's no less legal than the music project here. Should I complain to Nexus or just let it go?

Oh Daggerfall, how much you have shrunk and become almost unrecognisable...

And Sentinel, once a great desert, now only snow and mountains...

And the Isle of Balfera now has a great city connecting to the southern mainland...

To go explore:

Add:
bBorderRegionsEnabled=0
under [General] in Skyrim.ini

And to go faster use freecam, "tfc" in the console.
