I believe a couple of these are arguable but the rest are outrageous.

Assuming this is not a fake, it shows how primitively Microsoft tries to bash Linux. Ok, I'm using Windows 7 too, but I know many people using Linux with great sucess. It is highly customizable and, if you put enough effort in getting into the "linux way of thinking", much more powerfull and efficient. The problem with drivers (wich isn't actually THAT big), that is often presented as a contra, but it isn't caused by the linux community in any way. Some manufacturers just decide not to release linux drivers or source code for their products.
The only reason for me to use Windows is the software, wich is often only released for windows (e.g. video games).

And most power users, especially the Linux ones, don't realize that's the point: MS is marketing to people who don't want to put effort into it. So is Apple. Both of them have a point. My mother doesn't want to have to put effort into getting her computer to work and I don't blame her.

The problem I have with this stuff they've produced is it tries to enforce the typical cluelessness of salespeople. Shady business practices are offensive.

Linux is for people who love computers, not your everyday end user.

It seems the most common group of people to go around telling end users that they should ditch Windows and use Linux are the Ubuntu people.

I'm in the Arch Linux crowd. The only people that we tell to use Arch Linux are the Ubuntu users :P

I used to work in Tech Support many years ago and dealt with a lot of people who couldn't run Windows 98 or XP. So I understand why you wouldn't want just anyone running Linux.

But, I'd be more than happy to see a Linux based OS that could really give MS or Apple a run for their money on the desktop but I think the only company that could really pull this off at the moment is Google but they're too busy mining space rocks

Browsers are basically virtual operating systems nowadays, what with the JavaScript VM and all you can do with HTML 5. Work on your Google Docs from within Google Chrome. That's the Google Operating System!

But I don't doubt they'll end up creating a full-fledged OS one day. It'll run twice as fast as Windows, but it'll also scan all your hard drives to send data to the marketing algorithms creating targeted ads that'll display on your desktop.

They've already created two. Both use Linux as a base, run very well on their intended platforms, and avoid scanning all your files so as to display targeted ads on your desktop.
