Hi all! I came here from the Bethesda forums after watching an awesome video that showed DaggerXL in action. Although I had been impressed by the project for some weeks I could never get it to run for very long without crashing, so after watching this video I was just awestruck and I joined these forums a few minutes later. :-)

So, I'd really like to see this project come to fruition one day. The work you're doing to revive these old classics, especially Daggerfall and Blood, is very very appreciated. I have no money to donate to the project since I'm still a student and I don't have a job yet, but as time goes on, we'll see what happens!

I do have one question, though. What language are you writing the XL engine in? C++? C#? Delphi??? Also, is the project open source? I wasn't able to find any open repositories on the website and if no one minds I would like to take a peek at the code that makes this thing tick.

It will be once all four games are fully playable. Shouldn't be long from now. Once the merger is finished things should definitely pick up pace.

The engine is coded in C++. Most of the gameplay elements (UI, gameflow, NPC/enemy AI, etc.) will be found in scripts, which use a "C-like" language (with some light C++ elements).

Interesting. I ask because in the future I might also like to help move this project along by working on the programming side of things. Although I unfortunately don't know any object oriented languages, I am highly proficient in ANSI C and I have a moderate degree of experience putting my own (albeit relatively simple) game engines together. In the future, who knows? If you let me, I might be able to put some time and effort of my own into this. :geek:

I know how difficult it can be to force yourself to plug hours of time into a project like this and see only a few (if any) immediately gratifying things at the end of your efforts, so I understand if this merger takes quite some time to complete.
