Hi everyone.

I'm a (middle aged - boo!) linux user (Ubuntu 11.04) who, back in the day, was an enormous fan of Daggerfall. It was the 2nd game I ever bought for the PC (Spectrum & Amiga guy before that), and I can still remember the (good) feeling of stunned disbelief when I first exited the trainer dungeon and saw the size/number of locations on the main map. Unbelievable!

I just got the game up and running (sort of) in dosbox the other day and was thinking "why the hell don't Bethsoft make a modern version of this for the consoles/pc? - ah well, never mind" & while trying to fix a save/load issue, came across a link to DaggerXL. It sounds amazing - I'll try to be one of the first linux downloaders here!

Well despite early misgivings I stuck with it, and now its sort of growing on me (a bit). I'm not sure it adds anything except a unified look across netbooks & real pcs. It certainly has quite a few ergonomic issues - many more mouse clicks & pointer movement to get to a category-sorted list of installed apps for instance.
Overall the best summary would be "tolerating it for now".
